Coworker Conversation-  “I’d be in support of a Union, but I’m a senior operator and that means I can’t join.”

Oh really?  And who told you that? Did your boss happen to be the one that told you that?  Did they say "you count as supervision and therefore you’re not eligible?”  Sit down and brace yourself because I have some news for you… the same people that lied to your face a year ago about “going to WorkDay for your timesheets won’t change your straight vs OT hours” just lied to your face again.  Shocking isn’t it?

They’re going to spout all sorts of bullshit-  they’re going to tell Senior Techs they wouldn’t be eligible, they’re going to tell apprentices they’re not eligible, they’re going to tell telecomm and metering techs and shop foreman and tech writers they’re not eligible.  But guess what?  It's not up to them!

Do you want proof?  Look at WOA- their leads are union, so are their maintenance techs and utilities operators.  If your paycheck comes directly from our unit operator and you are an hourly employee there is a damn good chance that you can and will be included in our Collective Bargaining Agreement- and the best way to make that happen is to sign an Authorization Card when they get distributed.

There is power in numbers, the company knows and fears that.  They will do everything in their power to keep our union as small and as fragmented as possible so they can keep walking on us.  The first step they have already taken- last year they sent emails to leads telling them they wouldn’t be eligible-  that’s complete bullshit, it’s a deliberate lie, they’re trying to drive wedges between us.  The NLRB, the Union and the company will hash out who’s eligible or not eligible-  not the company, that’s not how this process works but they don’t want you to know that. Seek out information on your own, our management will fed all sorts of lies, half truths, twisted facts and bias answers regarding all things union.

Obviously the main reason we’re willing to work long hours in a harsh environment hundreds or thousands of miles away from our loved ones is for the money.  Full stop.  But I think we would all agree
